Zuzanna Janin

Zuzanna Janin, (born 1961) is a Polish visual artist and former actor. Janin lives and works in Warsaw and London.

Janin was a teenage actor in a Polish serial "Szalenstwo Majki Skowron" ("Madness of Majka Skowron").

Janin has created sculpture, video, installation, photography and performatives. Her work was shown in the Museum of Contemporary Art, Chicago;[1] Foundation Miro, Barcelona; Martin Gropius Bau, Berlin; Hamburger Bahnhof, Berlin; ModernaMuseet, Stockholm; National Gallery Zacheta, Warszawa; Center for Contemporary Art, Warszawa; Haifa Museum of Art, Haifa; Israel Museum, Jerusalem; Foksal Gallery, Warszawa; lokal 30, Warszawa; Jeu de Pomme, Paris; Kunstverein Salsburg; Ludwig Museum, Aachen; KunstMuseum Bern; Kunsthalle, Bern; Hoffmann Sammlung Berlin; Musee de beaux art, Calais; TT The THING, NY.

Janin took part in Sydney Biennale, Istambul Biennal, Liverpool Biennale, Fokus Lodz Biennale, 54th Venice Biennale. Her work includes the sculpture of cotton candy "Sweet Girl, Sweet Boy",[2] an installation made out of car models "Dreaming of Speed & Adventure",[3] the video installation "All Thet Music!" made of 6 simultaneous HD videos or the video-performance "FIGHT", which portrays her fighting a box mach with a Polish heavy-weight world champion.

In 2009-2010 she started working on the first series of video installations Majka from the Movie. Of semi autobiographical nature the video series is composed of non-narrative episodes build on the 70`s Polish television series Madness of Majka Skowron.[4] The main character of this television series was played by Zuzanna Janin herself as a child actor. Majka Skowron, a teenage girl escapes the mise en scène of the original film and vagabonds through a kaleidoscope of cinema and television frames from the 70 till present. "Majka from the Movie (Madness of Majka Skowron)", based on the serial for teenagers from 70s in communism Poland, Majka from the Movie composed of non-narrative episodes build on the 70`s Polish television series Madness of Majka Skowron. The main character of this television series was played by Zuzanna Janin herself as a child actor. Majka Skowron, a teenage girl escapes the mise en scène of the original film and vagabonds through a kaleidoscope of cinema and television frames from the 70 till present.
